Henry Ward Beecher's comment "Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made and forgot to put a soul into" resonates with me. The structure and delicacy of flowers have always amazed me. I have spent many years photographing rhododendrons, peonies, iris and orchids in order to try and capture even a small essence of their beauty and glory on canvas. My highest goal is for these seasonal beauties of nature, is that they can be continuously enjoyed all year long through my paintings.
The sketches that are shown were done in Conti' pencil. I sketched my friend's darling little boy as an angel and have since had many commissions for other clients using the same medium -- including "Joe" another commission piece. If you are interested in a portrait in oil or Conti' pencil, please contact me. The "Antique Doll with Iris" painting has been the recipient of several awards, including "Best of Show" at the International Women Artists of the West exhibition in Biloxi, MS. and earned the Honorable Mention category in the " Best Art of the Year 1997" issue of Artist's Magazine. This original painting is now available for sale.
